Apparently, Google and Skype have co-invested in Martin Varsavsky’s new venture FON, a user-run WIFI network. Martin was a speaker at Les Blogs 2.0 and DLD06. And co-investor Danny Rimer of Index Ventures concluded: “We think this is very disruptive technology and it's going to be global, very much like Skype … It's another example of an incredibly innovative company coming out of Europe." Marvelled by the entrepreneurial creativity I just saw in the US again, yet find I this statement encouraging for Europe. Bravo Martin!
